Cynthia Sanborn is a professor of Political Science at the Universidad del Pacífico, Peru. She has a BA from the University of Chicago and an MA and PhD from Harvard University.
She is a member of the Environmental Development Working Group in the Americas and has been a visiting professor at Boston University and Harvard University. She is currently a member of the Regional Board of Directors of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) at Harvard University. She is also a founding member of Grupo Sofia: Professional women in the Social Sciences.
Her publications stand out for their contributions in the areas of international politics and Peruvian development, corporate social responsibility, and extractive industries. Most recently, her work focuses on the environmental and political impacts of Chinese investments in Latin America. Among her publications, the co-edition of “China and Sustainable Development in Latin America: The Social and Environmental Dimension” (Anthem Press, 2015) stands out.
