José Miguel Vidal

José Miguel Vidal holds a PhD and a Master's degree in History from East China Normal University and serves as an Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary Program of Religious Studies, with dual affiliation to the Faculty of Theology and the Institute of History at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Research Area: His primary research area focuses on global intellectual history, with a particular emphasis on China and its relations with the West and Latin America. This line of research is currently being developed within the framework of his Fondecyt Initiation project (No. 11251134), titled "Latin America and the construction of modern China: nation, knowledge and geopolitics, c. 1895-1949". This project analyzes the construction of the concept of nation in China and how this process influenced the dynamics of interaction between China and Latin America during the first half of the 20th century.
