Director of ICLAC, Francisco Urdinez, participated in the 10th anniversary of Carey's China Desk

The growing commercial, diplomatic, and cultural relationship between Chile and China has necessitated efforts aimed especially at facilitating and strengthening these ties, such as the case of the China Desk at law firm Carey, which on October 12 celebrated its 10th anniversary, an event attended by the director of the Millennium Nucleus ICLAC, Francisco Urdinez.

Carey's China Desk provides advice to both Chinese companies on their investments in Chile and Latin America, as well as to those who want to start businesses in the Chinese market. This office, which also has staff in Shanghai (China), responds to the need to have a team familiar with the particularities of Chinese business culture.

The celebration included the participation of the ICLAC Director, Francisco Urdinez; Executive Director of the UC Confucius Institute, José Luis Parra; Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Chile, Ma Keqiang; Representatives of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT); and The chief of staff of Invest Chile, Francisco Picón; among others.

Alberto Cardemil, leader of the China Desk team, explained “We hope that this decade that we celebrate today will lead to a long and prosperous relationship, which will continue to consolidate our commercial, investment and, above all, friendship ties between our nations”.

For his part, Dr. Urdinez highlighted that "This and other initiatives are important to generate networks and personal ties with investors and better understand what Chinese businessmen think about Chile."
