Millenium Nucleus ICLAC Hosts Students from Fudan University

The ICLAC Millennium Nucleus was honored to receive 17 students from Fudan University (China) as part of the “Fudan University – 2024 Chile Immersion Week.” This event, coordinated by East Consulting, included visits to major universities in Chile, lectures at research centers, interactions with government entities, and visits to companies, in addition to a presentation by our ICLAC Millennium Nucleus.

Maria Montt, Deputy Director of ICLAC, and Johannes Rehner, Principal Investigator, welcomed the students at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. During their visit, the students participated in a presentation that provided an in-depth look at the nucleus's work, its research lines, current projects, and potential future collaborations between the two institutions.

Promoting the Development of Young Researchers

This initiative aims to enhance Chile’s visibility among the visiting students, establish and strengthen ties with participating institutions, and create new opportunities for academic and cultural interaction between the two countries. Ignacio Tornero, CEO of East Consulting and Associate Professor at the UC Center for International Studies, emphasized the importance of such visits and exchange projects:

“We believe that for a real impact to be achieved, it is essential that this first visit be followed by others in the future. In this regard, we want to explore the space to generate other parallel initiatives, such as having one of the participating students return to Chile for a stay at one of the visited institutions.”

Strengthening Strategic Alliances

This is not the first time that the ICLAC Millennium Nucleus has hosted students from Chinese universities. In January, the nucleus welcomed a delegation from Tsinghua University, with which it has maintained contact. Currently, one of their students is a Visiting Researcher at the nucleus. These activities reflect ICLAC’s commitment to the development of young researchers, international cooperation, and the strengthening of strategic alliances.
