Researchers from the Millennium Nucleus ICLAC and the Center for Asian Studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica (CEAUC), José Miguel Vidal and Jessica Sequeira, recently participated in the "2025 Visiting Program for Young Sinologists" in China.
The initiative, organized by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Shandong University, aimed to build a support platform for foreign academics to conduct studies on China. The program sought to offer research assistance and foster collaboration with local institutions and experts to enhance participants' academic level and international influence.
The visit took place over three weeks, from September 9th to 29th, in Shandong province, a region of profound historical significance as the birthplace of Confucianism. During their stay, the international delegation had a deep immersion in traditional Chinese culture. The agenda combined keynote lectures with field visits to heritage sites.
Among the activities carried out, the researchers toured Mount Tai, visited the Temple, Mansion, and Cemetery of Confucius in Qufu, and attended the International Confucius Cultural Festival. The itinerary also included visits to museums and archaeological sites such as the ruins of the Longshan culture, as well as study centers in cities like Jinan, Rizhao, and Qingdao.
