Abstract: This case report seeks to contribute to systematic research on the spatial and temporal distribution of Chinese malls in Chile, focusing specifically on three municipalities of the capital, Santiago: Providencia, Ñuñoa, and Las Condes. The study emerged as a second stage of research intended to build upon and refine the methodology developed in a previous study conducted by ICLAC in the Ñuble Region. Using a mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative), this study seeks to define and describe with greater precision the economic, spatial, and organizational characteristics of the 41 "Chinese malls" found in the municipalities studied. It also aims to advance toward an operational definition of the phenomenon, considering its diversity in terms of aesthetics, location, expansion strategy, and business organization. This study is relevant for understanding the commercial and socioeconomic impact of China in Latin America, specifically how the commercial strategies of these Chinese businesses adapt to different Chilean urban contexts. The results contribute to the design of local public policies on economic integration, commercial regulation, and urban territorial planning.
