ICLAC Researchers Participate in Technical Roundtable at the National Congress Library to Define Chile-China Roadmap 2026-2030

Within the framework of 55 years of diplomatic relations between Chile and China, and two decades of the Political Dialogue Committee between both countries, the National Congress Library (BCN) convened a key strategic reflection session: the "Chile and China in Parliamentary Perspective" Analysis Roundtable.

The meeting, held in the BCN Reading Room in Santiago, had as its main objective to lay the foundations for the technical document "Chile-China in Parliamentary Perspective: Roadmap 2026–2030", which will be published in January 2026. The activity featured prominent participation from researchers of the Millennium Nucleus ICLAC, who contributed their expert vision on political, communication, and international relations dimensions.

The ICLAC delegation was composed of our director, Francisco Urdinez (Political Science professor at UC); María Montt, Vice Rector of International Affairs at UC; Claudia Labarca, professor at the UC School of Communications; and Juan Enrique Serrano, professor at the Institute of International Studies (IEI) at the University of Chile.

During the session, the researchers engaged in dialogue with parliamentarians, such as Senator Francisco Chahuán, and former ambassadors, including Fernando Reyes-Matta and Luis Schmidt. The debate centered on contemporary geopolitical challenges and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen bilateral ties in the next administration.
