Associate Professor at the School of Sociology of the Universidad Diego Portales. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom).
Research Areas: Global political economy, critical social theory, and development studies.
He is the author of the books Planetary Mine: Territories of Extraction Under Late Capitalism (Verso Books, 2020), Gobernar la utopía: sobre la planificación y el poder popular (Caja Negra Editora, 2021), and Dependence and Freedom: A Political Theory of Non-Western Marxism (Verso Books, 2027).
His research has also been published in various international academic journals, as well as in general-audience media. His current research projects address the dynamics of power and conflict in the globalized extraction of natural resources, as well as the intellectual and political history of 20th-century Latin American theories of development and underdevelopment. Additionally, he coordinates Modernismo Latinoamericano, a digital platform aimed at recovering the future imaginaries that emerged in the region during the developmentalist era (1910–1979).
