Research: “An ethnographic study of Chinese Lion Dance and Drumming in Chile

Her research project seeks to explore how Chinese lion dance extends beyond Chinese diaspora communities, through an ethnomusicological approach that analyzes the sonic, bodily and symbolic dimensions of its performance in Chile. In particular, it examines how lion dance groups adapt traditional Chinese practices to local contexts, while forming both national and transnational networks between Latin America and Asia.
