University students from UC and UDP visit the exhibition “The Journey of Guan Gong”  

Last Wednesday, September 6, more than 100 university students visited the exhibition “The Journey of Guan Gong” at the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) together with researchers from the Millennium Nucleus ICLAC. The exhibition shows, through the figure of the Chinese deity Guan Gong, the historical relationship between Chile and China, the religious practices of this Asian community in the country, and the cultural exchange between both countries.  

The visit comprised students from the “China History and Culture” class of the UC History major, along with ICLAC professors and researchers José Miguel Vidal and María Montt, and students of the “Latin American Social Processes” course of the UDP Anthropology degree, together with Professor Pablo Álvarez and the UDP academic and academic secretary, Marisol Verdugo.

Carol Chan, a Researcher at the Nucleus and Professor at the Center for Research in Society and Health (CISS) at the Universidad Mayor, and Maria Montt, both part of the exhibition's curatorial team, also gave guided tours to students addressing the historical Chinese migration to Chile, the figure of Guan Gong and how he came to the Museum, and the participation of Chinese in the Pacific War within the framework of the exhibition “The Journey of Guan Gong”.  

Due to the success of the exhibition, it has been extended and can be visited until next Wednesday, September 27, between 10:00 am and 10:00 am. hrs y las 17:30 hrs.
