Second "China Powers" Webinar Explores China's Role in Global Electromobility Technology

On Friday, May 24, the second session of “China Powers,” a webinar series organized by Pablo Ampuero Ruiz and Cristóbal Bonelli, researchers from the University of Amsterdam and the Worlds of Lithium (WOL) project, in collaboration with our Millennium Nucleus ICLAC, took place.

This second webinar, titled “Conversations on ecological civilisation, lithium-ion batteries, and electromobility”, featured panelists Juliana González Jauregui, ICLAC adjunct researcher and academic at FLACSO Argentina; Gong Huiwen from the University of Stavanger; and Ágnes Szunomár from Corvinus University.

The discussion focused on China’s role as a key player in the global circulation of electromobility technologies, the country's influence on the lithium industry (especially its investments in Latin American territories), the global lithium battery market, the opportunities arising from these technologies, and their impact on the economy and the environment.

The next and final session will be held on Friday, June 7, at 09:00 hrs (Chile time) via Zoom and YouTube, and will focus on the drivers of electromobility in China. Researchers David Tyfield from Lancaster University, Pablo Ampuero-Ruiz from the University of Amsterdam, and Haley Kwan Hiu-Lap from the University of Hong Kong will participate. Registration here.
