Applications are open from January 15 to March 11, 2024
The Centre for Studies on China and Asia Pacific (CECHAP) of the Universidad del Pacifico (Peru) is currently accepting applications to join the Centre as a Postdoctoral Researcher focused especially on issues related to China and Sustainable Development in Latin America.
The postdoctoral position at CECHAP will last from one to three years, with the possibility of annual renewal by mutual agreement, and the researcher is expected to dedicate part of his or her time to participating in the multinational project that examines the challenges and opportunities concerning China's role in the global energy transition and its investments in critical minerals and energy in Latin America.
For Cynthia Sanborn, Senior Advisor of the Millennium Nucleus ICLAC and director of CECHAP, one of the most significant changes in Latin America during the last three decades has been the expansion and diversification of the region's relations with the People's Republic of China, transforming China into an important business partner, creditor, investor, and ally.
“Although China remains a developing country, its success with structural reform and capital accumulation was followed by an increase in its leadership on a global scale, including on issues of the environment and energy transition. Understanding China and the relations between China and the Global South is essential to understanding our prospects for future sustainable development,” she commented.
